Biographpy
Robyn A. Horton is Of Counsel with the Firm and concentrates her practice in Medicaid eligibility and asset protection planning, health and disability law, appellate practice, civil rights and discrimination, business and civil litigation support, corporate and business law along with franchise law. Her passion is found in legal research and brief writing in a multitude of areas for cases in both state and Federal courts.

Ms. Horton began her career as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Phillip R. Garrison at the Missouri Court of Appeals where she was trained in appellate practice. She then became a Staff Attorney with Legal Services of Southern Missouri practicing in the areas of Public Benefits, Health and Disability law for twenty years. Ms. Horton successfully represented hundreds of low-income, disabled and elderly clients in administrative appeals advocating for Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security Disability benefits on their behalf. She also chaired various state-wide task forces to secure and expand public benefits for Missouri’s most vulnerable citizens. Through a collaborative effort led by Legal Services attorneys during her tenure, Medicaid coverage was expanded to include adult incontinence briefs through affirmative litigation in Hiltibran v. Levy, highlighted in the Clearinghouse Review Journal of Poverty Law & Policy, Volume 45 (March 2012). Her work was integral in laying the administrative appellate groundwork with the lead plaintiff, ultimately changing Missouri law and bringing financial relief to many disabled residents. Ms. Horton is a member of the Missouri Bar Association where she has authored and presented educational programs on numerous Public Benefits topics.

While in law school, Ms. Horton served as the Editor-in- Chief of the Tulsa Law Journal, and was the Founder of the Public Interest Law Society. She received many American Jurisprudence awards for mastery of coursework, and graduated second in her class, earning her membership in the Order of the Curule Chair.

Ms. Horton served as an adjunct professor at Southwest Baptist University where she instructed students in Health Services Law. She is a Sustaining Member of the Junior League of Springfield, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and an instructor in dance fitness at Springfield South Jazzercise. She currently volunteers at Central High School as Treasurer of the Dance Team Boosters. She and her husband, Christiaan, have three children and a spoiled Airedale Terrier.
