Biography
Shawn P. Battagler is a shareholder in the Firm and focuses his practice on Corporate and Rural Electric Cooperative Law. Early in his career, his practice consisted primarily of civil litigation in the areas of personal injury, workers compensation, insurance defense, eminent domain, land rights, and contract disputes. He now acts as outside general counsel to several Rural Electric Cooperatives and regularly advises others. In this role, he aids in regulatory compliance, transactions, and litigation relating to real estate, procurement, construction, labor and employment, corporate governance, workers compensation, and administrative law. He also advises on industry specific legislative activities. Mr. Battagler was previously the managing member of Andereck Evans, LLC where he practiced from 1999 to 2022.

Electric Cooperatives and Utility Law

Mr. Battagler serves as board legal counsel for rural electric cooperatives and related organizations. His experience representing electric cooperatives includes representation before the Missouri Public Service Commission as well as state court litigation related to board governance, contract disputes, easement encroachment concerns, and right-of-way condemnation actions. He is also involved in drafting a wide range of utility contracts and assists clients with regulatory compliance in all aspects of their operations.

Labor and Employment Law
Mr. Battagler represents management in collective bargaining agreement negotiations and grievance proceedings including negotiations and arbitration. He also provides consultation on human resource concerns and provides training on discrimination and harassment claims avoidance and labor law compliance.

Corporate and Business Law
Mr. Battagler has assisted clients buy and sell businesses, assisted with real estate sales and leases, and has assisted in the creation of complex and unique business arrangements. His transactional practice also includes business formation and corporate governance matters and is strengthened by his litigation and dispute resolution (mediation and arbitration) experience.
